Our next meeting will be 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 5th at the Rose Caracappa Center in Mt Sinai.

November 5 – Critique – Fran Roberts

This month’s Critique Session will be led by member Fran Roberts.  Fran has been an artist life-long, and  like many of us in the NSAG he also has pursued a complex  parallel  career.

Fran Roberts believes that works of art emerge from the TOTALITY of an artist’s life experience. This experience includes not just art training, but also ALL other personal and professional education, the deep and meaningful events of life, and the rich learning  that comes from family and friendships.

His art education is a combination of college studies, extensive training at the Art League of L.I. including 12 years of study with the prominent painter Stan Brodsky, earlier private art studies, an enriched and sensitive eye from 25 years as a Trustee of the Heckscher Museum  of Art, and combined with deep and extended personal  and professional experience. His public career has also included active military service, the Presidency of Bank Street College, leadership of the  Cold Spring Harbor and Three Village school districts, senior Federal role at the National Endowment for the Humanities in Washington, Professor at LIU/Post,  a Master of Arts degree from Wesleyan University and  Doctorate from Harvard University and additional research studies at Yale.
